Battle of the Brains

On Friday, February 1st, team Polentoni returned to the Ciociaro Club for the Battle of the Brains Trivia night, only this time they brought a second group of 8 friends with them! The overall turnout this year nearly doubled in size from our first visit last January, so the competition was stiff, and the questions a little bit more challenging. Even though the Polentoni teams didn’t win, great fun was had by all. We were especially happy to represent our Fogolar. The event is a fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Easter Egg Hunt Colouring Contest Form

Download this year's colouring contest form here: 2013 Easter Colouring Contest Bring your coloured form with you to the Fogolar Furlan for this year's Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23rd, at 2 PM. Easter Egg Hunt cost is $3 per child. All children are encouraged to bring their smiles because the Easter Bunny will be there! Mom and dad - don’t forget your cameras! Also, please remember to bring an Easter basket to collect the eggs. Children 12 and under are welcome, and the event will take place rain or shine.

February 9th Curling Outing

EFASCE Program 2013

Past participants of the EFASCE exchange program have returned from this experience with a better understanding and appreciation of their Friulani roots. 

EFASCE is sponsoring the Progetto Giovani Student Exchange Program again this year. Windsor can participate in conjunction with EFASCE Toronto by sending 5 students.  The program is open to students 15-18 years with ancestors from Friuli-Venezia-Giulia region. All the details are not final at this time but the program will run about 18 days most likely July 12-30 with the cost to the student of approximately $1500 which includes airfare, lodging (hostel in San Vito), food, Italian classes, excursions, tour buses, and all tour costs. This experience has proved valuable to our young people who have participated in the past programs.

Fogolar Family Skate

This year’s Family Skate at Lanspeary Park was a great success. We had our best turnout in years, with over 100 members and friends in attendance. A wonderful lunch at the Fogolar was held afterwards for all those who participated. We’re very thankful to all the families that came out to enjoy a couple of hours on the ice. We hope to see everyone at this year’s Carnevale on February 10. Some pictures from the skate are below.

The Fogolar Furlan New Year’s Eve event is always a big splash - good food, good price and lots of music by Big Louie and the Band. The prices are competitive and the menu is delicious.
